Linux Server Administration

Overview

This training introduces the essential concepts of a Linux system: distribution, kernel, shell and services. Participants install a server distribution on a virtual machine, carry out the initial configuration and get to grips with basic commands.
The progression covers package and update management, network settings, remote SSH access, users, groups and permissions. It also includes commissioning simple services such as file sharing and a web server.
The hands-on practice includes installing an HP DL380 server and a Linux VM, using systemd, network configuration, securing SSH, backups and scheduling with cron. Simulated failures allow participants to apply a diagnostic approach.
