Multimeter measurement on a low-voltage circuit
SSP Academy practical guide dedicated to using a multimeter on a low-voltage electronic circuit: preparing the instrument, …
Hands-on training to understand the basics of electronics and diagnose simple boards. It covers Ohm's and Kirchhoff's laws, common components, the multimeter, the lab power supply, the oscilloscope, linear and switch-mode power supplies, reading schematics, control circuits and a structured troubleshooting method.

This training, accessible to beginners, presents the fundamental electrical quantities and Ohm's and Kirchhoff's laws. Participants identify the resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, MOSFETs, regulators and optocouplers present on a board.
The programme teaches how to use a multimeter, a lab power supply and an oscilloscope to measure voltages, currents, resistances, power and signals. Linear and switch-mode power supplies are commissioned and checked in order to identify typical faults.
Hands-on practice includes control circuits with transistors, relays, optocouplers and comparators. A complete method is applied to teaching boards: visual inspection, power supply checks, short-circuit tracing, component diagnostics and correction of simulated faults.
• Understand basic electrical quantities and Ohm's and Kirchhoff's laws.
• Identify the main components of an electronic board.
• Correctly use a multimeter, a lab power supply and an oscilloscope.
• Understand how linear and switch-mode power supplies work and identify typical faults.
• Read a simple electronic diagram and relate it to the actual board.
• Apply a structured troubleshooting methodology for simple electronic boards.
• Entry-level electronics maintenance technicians.
• Electrical engineers or electricians wishing to move toward electronics maintenance.
